Your quick, clear guide to setting up and securing your Trezor device with Trezor Suite.
Introduction
Welcome! This short presentation walks you through starting up your Trezor device, pairing it with Trezor Suite, and best practices to keep your crypto safe. The steps below are intentionally concise and designed for first-time users and those refreshing their setup knowledge.
What you'll need
Hardware & software
Before you begin, gather your Trezor hardware wallet, a computer or laptop, and a USB cable. Open Trezor Suite on your computer (or visit the web app) to start the onboarding flow.
Official Trezor device (Trezor Model T or Trezor One).
A modern browser and the latest Trezor firmware (Suite will guide firmware install if needed).
Your recovery seed stored offline and physically — never on a computer.
Step 1 — Download & open Trezor Suite
Visit the official Trezor Suite download or web page to ensure you use an authentic release. Always verify you are on an official Trezor domain.
Plug your Trezor into the computer. Trezor Suite will detect the device and guide you through initializing or recovering it. Only proceed if the Suite app shows device prompts that match the screens on your Trezor.
Step 3 — Initialize or recover
Initialize (new device)
Choose to create a new wallet. Trezor will generate a recovery seed — write every word down in the order shown. Keep this physical backup offline.
Recover (existing seed)
If you already have a recovery seed, select the recover option and enter your seed when prompted. Confirm that addresses shown in Suite match expected addresses for your accounts.
Step 4 — Firmware & security checks
Trezor Suite will check the device firmware. If an update is required, follow the official prompts. Do not accept firmware updates from third-party websites. Use only the official firmware channel inside Suite.
Confirm the fingerprint and device messages match what appears on your Trezor screen before approving any transaction.
